Accounting Part 1
Course Description
An introduction to business teaching methods and their application to the teaching of the subject area will be the focus of this course. Consideration will be given to aspects of curriculum development in the field including a discussion of appropriate supporting materials.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in Good Standing.
- Basic Qualification in the Intermediate division or in the Senior division in a general education subject listed in Schedule A.
(Our office will verify your OCT status and CQR via the online OCT Public Register. You do not need to send a copy.) - At least one full year university course in Accounting.
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses.
NOTE:
- If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you cannot enroll in an Additional Qualifications course.
- Teachers trained outside of Ontario, and wishing to teach in Ontario, must be a fully registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers PRIOR to registration in an AQ.
- Exceptions to the above are made for trained teachers from other jurisdictions who do not plan to teach in Ontario. Contact aspire@uwo.ca for more information.
PRE-EVALUATION OPTION: Admission is dependent on meeting the academic prerequisites. If you are unsure of your eligibility, it is strongly advised to have your transcript assessed prior to enrollment in the AQ course. Pre-evaluation requests must be received by the ASPIRE Program office no later than 10 days prior to registration deadline for the session. Check Frequently Asked Questions for instructions on requesting a pre-assessment.
For withdrawals due to non-eligibility, the university refund policy will apply. See Course Withdrawal/Refund under Policies and Guidelines.

The tuition amount includes a $100 non-refundable processing fee. This fee is applied to refunds issued for course withdrawals, including those for non-eligibility.
Registration acceptance is dependent upon payment of fees and fulfillment of eligibility requirements.
*It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before completing the registration/payment process. Check admission requirements for your course.
*International Students: International Fees apply for any student who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Please contact aspire@uwo.ca prior to registration.

Accounting Part 2
Course Description
This course will consist of:
- a detailed study of curriculum guidelines and requirements for the subject from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 inclusive;
- an overview of related subject guidelines;
- child and adolescent development related to the subject;
- development of programs to meet the special needs of students;
- program evaluation;
- student achievement evaluation;
- print and non-print teaching materials;
- study or research in the subject and its methodology;
- a study of the leadership role in the particular subject area.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in good standing indicating successful completion of Business Studies (Accounting) Part 1, OR is deemed to have Part 1 based on holding Intermediate or Senior qualifications in the subject area.
(CQR copy is not required as our office will verify Part 1 completion via the online OCT Public Register.) - At least two full year university courses in Accounting.
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses. - Evidence of one year of successful classroom teaching experience, verified by a supervisory officer. The supervisory officer is the superintendent of the school board (not the principal) or in the case of private schools, the Ministry of Education official assigned to provide supervisory services. Teaching experience must be completed AFTER initial teacher certification and PRIOR to the first day of the course.
NOTE:
- If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you cannot enroll in an Additional Qualifications course.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in good standing indicating successful completion of Business Studies (Entrepreneurship) Part 1, OR is deemed to have Part 1 based on holding Intermediate or Senior qualifications in the subject area.
(CQR copy is not required as our office will verify Part 1 completion via the online OCT Public Register.) - At least two full year university courses in Entrepreneurship.
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses. - Evidence of one year of successful classroom teaching experience, verified by a supervisory officer. The supervisory officer is the superintendent of the school board (not the principal) or in the case of private schools, the Ministry of Education official assigned to provide supervisory services. Teaching experience must be completed AFTER initial teacher certification and PRIOR to the first day of the course.
NOTE:
- If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you cannot enroll in an Additional Qualifications course.

- a detailed study of curriculum guidelines and requirements for the subject from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 inclusive;
- an overview of related subject guidelines;
- child and adolescent development related to the subject;
- development of programs to meet the special needs of students;

- student achievement evaluation;

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) showing Basic Qualification in the Primary division, the Junior division or the Intermediate division in a general education subject listed in Schedule A or the Senior division in a general education subject listed in Schedule A.
(Our office will verify your OCT status and CQR via the online OCT Public Register. You do not need to send a copy.) - A postsecondary degree (or its equivalent):
- that required four years of postsecondary study;
- that required the completion of at least 120 postsecondary credits (20 full courses);
- for which the candidate completed 54 postsecondary credits (9 full courses); and obtained at least second class or equivalent standing (B Average - 70%) in the subject area.
- A maximum of three economics courses will be considered toward the nine business courses.
- Evidence of at least two years (388 days) of successful teaching experience, of which at least one year (194 days) is in the subject area, as certified by an appropriate supervisory officer. The supervisory officer is the superintendent of the school board (not the principal) or in the case of private schools, the Ministry of Education official assigned to provide supervisory services. Teaching experience must be completed AFTER initial teacher certification and PRIOR to the first day of the course.
- The minimum passing grade for an Honour Specialist qualification is 70%.

Intermediate Division - Business Studies General
Course Description
Using an integrated approach to curriculum, this course will enable teachers to receive additional qualifications for the intermediate division in one subject area (general studies). Topics such as curriculum planning, teaching strategies and assessment of learning experiences for the intermediate division will be included in this course.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in Good Standing
- An acceptable university degree or qualifications that the Registrar considers to be equivalent to such a degree
(Our office will verify your OCT status and CQR via the online OCT Public Register. You do not need to send a copy.) - Two full-year university courses in Business
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses.
NOTE:
- If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you cannot enroll in an Additional Qualifications course.
- Teachers trained outside of Ontario, and wishing to teach in Ontario, must be a fully registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers PRIOR to registration in an AQ.
- Exceptions to the above are made for trained teachers from other jurisdictions who do not plan to teach in Ontario. Contact aspire@uwo.ca for more information.
PRE-EVALUATION OPTION: Admission is dependent on meeting the academic prerequisites. If you are unsure of your eligibility, it is strongly advised to have your transcript assessed prior to enrollment in the AQ course. Pre-evaluation requests must be received by the ASPIRE Program office no later than 10 days prior to registration deadline for the session. Check Frequently Asked Questions for instructions on requesting a pre-assessment.
For withdrawals due to non-eligibility, the university refund policy will apply. See Course Withdrawal/Refund under Policies and Guidelines.

Course Description

- Basic Qualification in the Intermediate division or in the Senior division in a general education subject listed in Schedule A.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in good standing indicating successful completion of Business Studies (Info & Comm Tech) Part 1, OR is deemed to have Part 1 based on holding Intermediate or Senior qualifications in the subject area.
(CQR copy is not required as our office will verify Part 1 completion via the online OCT Public Register.) - At least two full year university courses in info & business systems and/or computer science.
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses. - Evidence of one year of successful classroom teaching experience, verified by a supervisory officer. The supervisory officer is the superintendent of the school board (not the principal) or in the case of private schools, the Ministry of Education official assigned to provide supervisory services. Teaching experience must be completed AFTER initial teacher certification and PRIOR to the first day of the course.

- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in good standing indicating successful completion of Business Studies (Info & Comm Tech) Part 2. (CQR copy is not required as our office will verify Part 2 completion via the online OCT Public Register.)
- At least two full year university courses in info & business systems and/or computer science.
Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses. - Evidence of at least two years (388 days) of successful teaching experience, of which at least one year (194 days) is in the subject area, as certified by an appropriate supervisory officer. The supervisory officer is the superintendent of the school board (not the principal) or in the case of private schools, the Ministry of Education official assigned to provide supervisory services. Teaching experience must be completed AFTER initial teacher certification and PRIOR to the first day of the course.
NOTE:
- If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you cannot enroll in an Additional Qualifications course.
- Teachers trained outside of Ontario, and wishing to teach in Ontario, must be a fully registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers PRIOR to registration in an AQ.
- Exceptions to the above are made for trained teachers from other jurisdictions who do not plan to teach in Ontario. Contact aspire@uwo.ca for more information.
PRE-EVALUATION OPTION: Admission is dependent on meeting the academic prerequisites. If you are unsure of your eligibility, it is strongly advised to have your transcript assessed prior to enrollment in the AQ course. Pre-evaluation requests must be received by the ASPIRE Program office no later than 10 days prior to registration deadline for the session. Check Frequently Asked Questions for instructions on requesting a pre-assessment.
For withdrawals due to non-eligibility, the university refund policy will apply. See Course Withdrawal/Refund under Policies and Guidelines.

The tuition amount includes a $100 non-refundable processing fee. This fee is applied to refunds issued for course withdrawals, including those for non-eligibility.
Registration acceptance is dependent upon payment of fees and fulfillment of eligibility requirements.

Admission Requirements
- General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR) in Good Standing
- An acceptable university degree or qualifications that the Registrar considers to be equivalent to such a degree
(Our office will verify your OCT status and CQR via the online OCT Public Register. You do not need to send a copy.) - For applicants who do not already hold a "Senior" qualification, a "B" average (70%) in a minimum of five full year university courses in the subject area are required OR for applicants who hold a senior qualification, a minimum of two full year university courses in the teaching subject are required. Of the five full courses required for applicants who do not hold a senior qualification, a maximum of two economics courses may be considered supporting toward the subject area.
